Want to become an expert at sweepstakes? Here are a few things you’ve gotta check when you submit sweepstakes entries to boost your chances of winning.
Do you meet the specified age requirements?
Many sweepstakes will require you to key in your age in the entry form - this is done to check whether you meet the age eligibility criteria. Other entry forms will require you to check a box to confirm you are over the age of 18. In either case, your age is an important factor that determines your eligibility, so make sure you are over (or under) the age restrictions specified in the rules.
Are there any location restrictions?
Some sweepstakes only allow residents from certain cities or states to enter the giveaway - this is especially true in the case of local sweepstakes. Checking the rules of the sweepstakes will tell you if your city or state is exempted. It’s, in fact, a good idea to enter a lot of state- or city-specific sweepstakes, since your odds of winning go up substantially, with such giveaways. This is because local sweepstakes get fewer entries, in comparison to national sweepstakes.
Have you entered all the required details?
Once you’ve keyed in all the details into the form, make sure to go through it again to check whether you’ve missed adding any important information. Also, look for typos - it’s easy to mistake an “8” for a “B,” and so on. Also, some people enter all the details into the form but forget to submit it - don’t let that happen to you. Many sweepstakes will require you to check a box at the very end of the form to confirm your entry and details - make sure to do this so your entry actually goes through.
Is your browser up to date?
Even if you’ve entered all the details in the form, your entry may not go through if your browser is not up to date. So, before you start entering sweepstakes, make sure to check if you are using an outdated web browser. You should, ideally, do this from time to time, because not only does it keep your browser current but it helps maintain security.
