Prize notifications by email: Many sweepstakes companies send prize notifications by email to the winner. They find the email address of the winner by checking the entry form you submitted. Given this, ensure you don’t overlook email notifications from companies. It’s also a good idea to set up a dedicated email address for your sweepstakes entries.
Sometimes email prize notifications have a link to the sponsor’s website, where you can find additional information about what you need to do to claim the prize. However, many times, the notification will be informational and you won’t have to do anything more to claim your prize.
Prize notifications by mail:Many companies also send winning notifications to people through postal mail. These notifications could come by the regular postal service or through delivery services like UPS® or FedEx®. You may also receive forms or an affidavit that you’ll be required to fill out and submit to claim your prize.
Telephone calls to inform you that you’ve won:Some sponsors also call you via telephone to let you know you’ve won. It’s important that you answer these phone calls, because the sponsoring company may disqualify you if they can’t reach out. To ensure you don’t miss the sponsor’s phone call, provide a number on which you can be reached easily.
Prize notifications announced on the sponsor’s website or social media account:Some companies only announce winners via their website. If you miss seeing this and don’t respond, the company may choose a different winner. For sweepstakes that run on social media, sponsors will typically put up details of the winners on their social media account.
Prizes may also be sent to you without any notification or prior warning. This is something sweepstakes enthusiasts call a ‘surprize!’ And, we think there are few things better than a prize just showing up at your doorstep!
